Kate Charles is a sculptor and painter whose work explores belonging, memory, and transformation.
Working with ceramics, textiles, and gilded surfaces, she reflects on the emotional resonance of what we leave behind and the quiet strength found in renewal.
Her practice draws deeply on material and place, creating contemplative works that hold space for memory, loss, and return.

ABOUT
Born in the North Island of Aotearoa / New Zealand, Kate’s work is shaped by the influences of her homeland — its natural beauty, cultural narratives, and the spirit of her family. She expresses this enduring connection through sculptural and painted forms that evoke both the intimacy of the body and the vastness of landscape.
Kate studied Costume Design in Wellington, New Zealand, before earning a Visual Arts degree in Sculpture and Installation Art at the Sydney College of the Arts, Australia.
Alongside her studio practice, she has designed installations for Liberty London, Louis Vuitton, Van Cleef & Arpels, Maison Martin Margiela, Selfridges, Vivienne Westwood, and Hermès.
Her artwork is held in private collections across New Zealand, Australia, and England.
She lives and works between coastal Suffolk, England, and Aotearoa / New Zealand.
